The true test of plunging into a series on book four is how well you can dive into it without feeling like a complete outsider. I leapt into Beneath the Wake and didn’t feel the least bit out of the loop. As far as the characters were concerned, I got to know them fairly quickly. Interestingly enough, what made me choose this book was…..

For a few years now, I’ve been seeing the bout of books hashtag pop up, but always thought life was too busy for me to participate. Move over busy life, I’m participating this round!!

Book wise, April had me showered in awesome reads ! I was able to knock out four reviews. I may have been able to squeeze out another one but April almost whacked me down a few times. So yes, April on a personal level has been hectic. Many trips to the clinic with the kids and a basement full of water. This lead to major excavation work around the house. It’s a headache but at least I have my books to retreat into when things get crazy.

It was nice to find myself with T.J. Perterson once again. I missed him the second I finished reading The Drop Zone.
I found this novel a nice change of pace from my two or three previous reads. Bob Kroll not only brought me straight into dark side of Halifax but he also took me deep within the darkest recesses of T.J Peterson. From my cushy leather sofa, Kroll transported me into The Hell Of It All!! (and it is a frightening place)
[Book Review] Beartown by Fredrik Backman
What I clung to, page after page was the buildup of tension. You knew something was coming, you could feel it, and it was palpable. I was swept up and heading straight into an emotional rollercoaster.

The North has always held a special place in my heart. Northern Ontario is where I grew up. It took me a while to get into the book. I couldn’t figure out where these first chapters where taking me. Trust the author I told myself — there is a story here! I continued on. I continued on to learn more about this family, I continued on just like they did.

If someone could have warned me that starting this book would put my weekend projects at risk…. Well, who am I kidding: I still would have started the book! One of the Boys broke my heart, it frustrated me, it’s one of those books that you want to reach into and rescue someone from it. Here is the publisher’s blurb then I’ll continue with my thoughts.

There are some important lessons to be learned within the pages of Spurt, for young and old. I think Miles captures with wonderful hilarity and delightful honesty, the many aspects of that short window called pubescence.

While I was out of service, the one thing I missed most was reading. I have a few book reviews that need writing. I may also start up my 365 photography project.
